Position Summary
Odunela Group is recruiting an experienced ERP Platform and Applications Engineer to operate, maintain and develop its Frappe and ERPNext platform and associated custom applications.
The successful candidate must be a proven practical technical builder capable of diagnosing incidents, developing controlled solutions, administering production environments, protecting data and maintaining reliable technical evidence.
This position must not be filled solely on the basis of academic qualification. Applicants must demonstrate practical experience building, deploying and supporting working software or ERP environments.
Principal Responsibilities
The engineer will:
- administer the Group’s Frappe and ERPNext environments;
- maintain bench, site, application and environment configurations;
- develop, test and maintain approved custom Frappe applications;
- maintain application hooks, patches, fixtures, APIs, workflows, web routes and integrations;
- perform controlled releases and production deployments;
- prepare deployment plans, backups, rollback procedures and validation evidence;
- maintain source-control repositories, branches, commits, tags and release records;
- monitor application availability, background jobs, queues, schedulers and service processes;
- monitor database health, storage, performance and integrity;
- administer backups and conduct restoration testing;
- diagnose and correct application, database, integration and deployment incidents;
- maintain incident, defect, root-cause and corrective-action records;
- administer system roles and permissions in conjunction with authorised business owners;
- ensure privileged access is approved, attributable and logged;
- design and maintain integrations with authorised systems;
- support data migration, controlled imports and technical data validation;
- maintain development, testing and production separation;
- support user-acceptance testing and release acceptance;
- maintain technical architecture, configuration, deployment and recovery documentation;
- prevent unreviewed or untested changes from reaching production;
- support RealAsure and other Group projects through the shared-services model;
- supervise the ERP elements of the ERP and IT Support Apprentice’s work.
The approved establishment identifies this position as requiring a proven practical technical builder and assigns production deployment and platform administration to it.
Authority and role boundaries
The engineer may perform approved technical changes but may not:
- deploy to production without the required approval and evidence;
- approve their own unrestricted access;
- make unlogged privileged changes;
- use live confidential data for ordinary development or training where synthetic data is sufficient;
- bypass backup or rollback controls because a change is described as urgent;
- alter business records without authorised correction procedures;
- provide independent assurance over controls they personally designed or operated;
- grant business permissions without the relevant functional owner’s approval;
- retain access after it is no longer required.
Essential requirements
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Substantial practical experience with Frappe Framework and ERPNext, or compelling experience with comparable Python-based ERP platforms;
- strong Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL and Git capability;
- experience building and maintaining custom applications;
- experience administering Linux-based production environments;
- experience with MariaDB or MySQL;
- experience deploying application changes safely;
- competence with backups, restoration and incident diagnosis;
- understanding of APIs, integrations, permissions and background processing;
- ability to read logs, trace failures and produce evidence-based corrections;
- understanding of security, least privilege, change control and separation of environments;
- clear technical documentation and communication skills.
Desirable Experience
Advantageous experience includes:
- ERPNext version 15;
- HRMS, recruitment, healthcare, hospitality or property applications;
- Nginx, Supervisor, Redis and Bench administration;
- automated testing and CI/CD;
- payment, messaging or identity integrations;
- data migration;
- vulnerability remediation;
- cloud or virtual-server administration;
- privacy-sensitive or regulated digital services.

The successful candidate must demonstrate disciplined troubleshooting, honesty about uncertainty, patience, attention to evidence, resistance to unsafe shortcuts, accountability for incidents and willingness to document technical work fully.
Selection Process
Assessment will ordinarily include application and portfolio review, screening interview, practical Frappe/ERPNext engineering exercise, technical and security interview, final interview, reference checks and verification.
