Position Summary
Odunela Group is recruiting a Data and Systems Apprentice to learn and support controlled data entry, testing, data-quality checking and systems documentation. This position is intended for a secondary-school leaver who is interested in technology, data, software systems or digital business processes.
What you will learn
The apprentice will learn how to:
- enter data accurately;
- check records for completeness;
- use data dictionaries;
- follow workflow instructions;
- create synthetic test data;
- execute user-acceptance test scripts;
- record defects;
- support data cleansing;
- prepare basic reports and user guides;
- protect confidential information.
Principal responsibilities
Under supervision, the apprentice will:
- enter approved information into test or authorised systems;
- check mandatory fields;
- compare data against source documents;
- identify duplicate or incomplete records;
- support data-cleansing activities;
- prepare synthetic data for training and testing;
- follow step-by-step test scripts;
- record expected and actual test results;
- report system errors;
- maintain defect and correction records;
- assist with basic reports and user instructions;
- follow role-based access restrictions;
- complete learning and competency records.
Essential requirements
Applicants must demonstrate:
- WAEC, NECO or equivalent qualification;
- satisfactory Mathematics and English ability;
- interest in technology and data;
- accuracy and patience;
- basic spreadsheet or computer competence;
- logical thinking;
- confidentiality;
- ability to follow detailed instructions;
- willingness to repeat tests and correct errors.
Desirable attributes
- basic Excel or spreadsheet experience;
- interest in coding or databases;
- school ICT or computer-studies experience;
- familiarity with online forms and digital tools;
- interest in computer science, information systems or data analysis.

- a teacher;
- school principal;
- religious or community leader;
- former employer;
- another responsible adult who is not an immediate family member;
- Confirmation clearly stated in the CV that the applicant:
- is at least 18 years old;
- can work onsite in Lagos;
- is willing to undertake full-time work and structured learning;
- is willing to complete aptitude tests and a practical assessment.
Selection Process
The existing Odunela ERP Recruitment ATS will be used.
The process will include:
- Application and secondary-school qualification check.
- Literacy, numeracy and basic digital aptitude assessment.
- Role-specific practical work sample.
- Structured interview.
- Identity and reference verification.
- Confidentiality and acceptable-use agreement.
- Conditional apprenticeship offer.
The approved assessment weighting is:
