Position Summary

Odunela Group is recruiting a Data and Systems Apprentice to learn and support controlled data entry, testing, data-quality checking and systems documentation. This position is intended for a secondary-school leaver who is interested in technology, data, software systems or digital business processes.

What you will learn

The apprentice will learn how to:

  1. enter data accurately;
  2. check records for completeness;
  3. use data dictionaries;
  4. follow workflow instructions;
  5. create synthetic test data;
  6. execute user-acceptance test scripts;
  7. record defects;
  8. support data cleansing;
  9. prepare basic reports and user guides;
  10. protect confidential information.
Principal responsibilities

Under supervision, the apprentice will:

  1. enter approved information into test or authorised systems;
  2. check mandatory fields;
  3. compare data against source documents;
  4. identify duplicate or incomplete records;
  5. support data-cleansing activities;
  6. prepare synthetic data for training and testing;
  7. follow step-by-step test scripts;
  8. record expected and actual test results;
  9. report system errors;
  10. maintain defect and correction records;
  11. assist with basic reports and user instructions;
  12. follow role-based access restrictions;
  13. complete learning and competency records.
Essential requirements

Applicants must demonstrate:

  1. WAEC, NECO or equivalent qualification;
  2. satisfactory Mathematics and English ability;
  3. interest in technology and data;
  4. accuracy and patience;
  5. basic spreadsheet or computer competence;
  6. logical thinking;
  7. confidentiality;
  8. ability to follow detailed instructions;
  9. willingness to repeat tests and correct errors.
Desirable attributes
  1. basic Excel or spreadsheet experience;
  2. interest in coding or databases;
  3. school ICT or computer-studies experience;
  4. familiarity with online forms and digital tools;
  5. interest in computer science, information systems or data analysis.

  14. Confirmation clearly stated in the CV that the applicant:
  15. is at least 18 years old;
  16. can work onsite in Lagos;
  17. is willing to undertake full-time work and structured learning;
  18. is willing to complete aptitude tests and a practical assessment.
Selection Process

The existing Odunela ERP Recruitment ATS will be used.

The process will include:

  1. Application and secondary-school qualification check.
  2. Literacy, numeracy and basic digital aptitude assessment.
  3. Role-specific practical work sample.
  4. Structured interview.
  5. Identity and reference verification.
  6. Confidentiality and acceptable-use agreement.
  7. Conditional apprenticeship offer.
