Position Summary

Odunela Group is recruiting a Governance and Corporate Records Apprentice to learn and support the management of company, board, meeting, policy and corporate records. The successful applicant will develop practical skills in document control, meeting administration, registers and formal business records.


This role is suitable for a highly organised secondary-school leaver who enjoys reading, writing and maintaining accurate documents.

What you will learn

The apprentice will learn how to:

  1. organise company and governance records;
  2. prepare meeting packs;
  3. maintain decision and action registers;
  4. control document versions;
  5. support statutory and governance calendars;
  6. protect confidential corporate information;
  7. distinguish drafts from approved records;
  8. prepare professional administrative documents;
  9. maintain electronic and paper filing structures.
Principal Responsibilities

Under supervision, the apprentice will:

  1. file and index corporate documents;
  2. maintain document-reference information;
  3. support preparation of meeting agendas and packs;
  4. format draft minutes and action lists;
  5. update approved decision and resolution registers;
  6. maintain statutory and meeting calendars;
  7. organise policy and contract files;
  8. check documents for dates, signatures and approval evidence;
  9. identify duplicate or conflicting records;
  10. support director and officer record administration;
  11. maintain conflict-declaration files;
  12. prepare documents for professional review;
  13. protect confidential board and corporate information.
Essential Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate:

  1. WAEC, NECO or equivalent qualification;
  2. strong written English;
  3. good reading comprehension;
  4. attention to detail;
  5. ability to organise documents;
  6. confidentiality and discretion;
  7. ability to follow formal instructions;
  8. basic word-processing competence or willingness to learn;
  9. reliability and respect for deadlines.
Desirable Attributes
  1. interest in law, governance, public administration or records management;
  2. school-secretarial, debating, library or administrative experience;
  3. experience preparing minutes or organising meetings;
  4. basic spreadsheet skills.

  16. can work onsite in Lagos;
  17. is willing to undertake full-time work and structured learning;
  18. is willing to complete aptitude tests and a practical assessment.
Selection Process

The existing Odunela ERP Recruitment ATS will be used.

The process will include:

  1. Application and secondary-school qualification check.
  2. Literacy, numeracy and basic digital aptitude assessment.
  3. Role-specific practical work sample.
  4. Structured interview.
  5. Identity and reference verification.
  6. Confidentiality and acceptable-use agreement.
  7. Conditional apprenticeship offer.
