Position Summary
Odunela Group is recruiting an HR and Recruitment Apprentice to learn and support recruitment, employee administration, onboarding, training and apprenticeship activities across the Group. The successful applicant will receive structured workplace training in the use of the Odunela careers portal, ERP Recruitment ATS and employee-administration processes. This role is suitable for a careful, approachable and trustworthy secondary-school leaver who wishes to develop a career in human resources, recruitment or business administration.
What you will learn
The apprentice will learn how to:
- organise recruitment and employee records;
- use a recruitment portal and Applicant Tracking System;
- support vacancy advertising;
- communicate professionally with applicants;
- schedule interviews and assessments;
- prepare onboarding checklists;
- maintain training and probation records;
- protect candidate and employee information;
- follow structured recruitment procedures;
- support workplace-learning administration.
Principal Responsibilities
Under supervision, the apprentice will:
- enter approved applicant information into the existing ATS;
- check applications for required documents;
- organise CVs and recruitment records;
- schedule interviews and practical assessments;
- prepare approved candidate communications;
- support vacancy-publication administration;
- maintain interview and assessment checklists;
- support reference and qualification-verification administration;
- prepare employee-onboarding documents;
- maintain induction, training and probation records;
- assist with apprentice learning records;
- identify incomplete or inconsistent information;
- escalate candidate or employee concerns to the supervisor;
- maintain confidentiality.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must demonstrate:
- WAEC, NECO or an equivalent secondary-school qualification;
- functional written and spoken English;
- basic numeracy;
- basic computer or smartphone competence;
- ability to organise documents;
- professional and respectful communication;
- confidentiality;
- reliability and punctuality;
- willingness to learn HR and recruitment systems.
Desirable Attributes
It would be helpful, but is not essential, to have:
- basic Microsoft Word or spreadsheet skills;
- school, church, community or volunteer administrative experience;
- experience organising records or events;
- interest in human resources, psychology, law or business administration.
Possible career progression
Subject to successful completion and organisational need, progression may include:
- Senior HR and Recruitment Apprentice;
- HR Administration Assistant;
- Recruitment Administration Assistant;
- Associate People and Recruitment Officer;
- future work-integrated study in human-resource management, business administration or a related discipline.

- Confirmation clearly stated in the CV that the applicant:
- is at least 18 years old;
- can work onsite in Lagos;
- is willing to undertake full-time work and structured learning;
- is willing to complete aptitude tests and a practical assessment.
Selection process
The existing Odunela ERP Recruitment ATS will be used.
The process will include:
- Application and secondary-school qualification check.
- Literacy, numeracy and basic digital aptitude assessment.
- Role-specific practical work sample.
- Structured interview.
- Identity and reference verification.
- Confidentiality and acceptable-use agreement.
- Conditional apprenticeship offer.
The approved assessment weighting is:

An unacceptable integrity or confidentiality result will disqualify an applicant regardless of the total score.
