Nigerian Property and Conveyancing Lawyer

Position purpose

Odunela Group seeks a Nigerian property and conveyancing lawyer to provide professional legal review, advice and oversight relating to property evidence, conveyancing processes, legal limitations, dispute indicators and professional referral requirements.

Scope of services

The appointed lawyer will:

1. review property-evidence procedures;
2. advise on title, conveyancing and property-document issues;
3. review legal referral thresholds;
4. advise on adverse interests, encumbrances and dispute indicators;
5. review chain-of-title and documentary issues;
6. review legal disclaimers and limitations;
7. advise on customer-facing legal wording;
8. review controlled pilot property files;
9. provide reasoned written legal opinions where instructed;
10. identify matters requiring further searches or professional inquiry;
11. support legal training for associates;
12. advise on legal-risk escalation;
13. preserve professional independence.

Required qualifications and experience

Individual applicant

The applicant must demonstrate:

1. qualification as a legal practitioner in Nigeria;
2. current right to practise;
3. substantial experience in property and conveyancing law;
4. experience reviewing land and title documents;
5. strong written legal-advisory capability;
6. professional-indemnity arrangements where applicable;
7. no unmanaged conflict.

Organisation applicant

The organisation must demonstrate:

1. registration as a law firm or authorised legal practice;
2. designated lead property lawyer;
3. suitably qualified supporting lawyers;
4. substantial conveyancing and property-law experience;
5. professional-indemnity insurance;
6. conflict-checking procedures;
7. confidentiality and document-security arrangements;
8. continuity arrangements.

Deliverables

1. legal review memoranda;
2. reviewed evidence procedures;
3. professional referral criteria;
4. legal-risk reports;
5. reviewed disclaimers;
6. pilot-file legal findings;
7. legal training materials;
8. periodic advisory reports.

10. confidentiality statement;
