The Healthcare Worker (Carer) supports individuals within their homes and local communities by providing basic health services, personal care, and social support. This role is essential in improving community health outcomes, supporting vulnerable groups, and strengthening access to primary healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide basic health assessments, including monitoring vital signs, observing symptoms, and reporting concerns to supervisors or nurses.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, mobility, and hygiene.
- Deliver health education on nutrition, sanitation, maternal health, child health, and disease prevention.
- Support medication adherence by reminding clients to take prescribed medications.
- Conduct home visits to monitor the well-being of elderly, disabled, or chronically ill individuals.
- Facilitate referrals to clinics, hospitals, or social services when needed.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of visits, observations, and interventions.
- Participate in community outreach programs, immunization campaigns, and health promotion activities.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to clients and their families.
- Collaborate with nurses, social workers, and community leaders to improve health outcomes.
Job Requirements
- Minimum Senior High School (SHS) education; a certificate in Community Health, Nursing Assistantship, or related field is an advantage, but not mandatory.
- Prior experience in caregiving, community health, or social work is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to speak and understand local languages within the assigned community.
- Strong understanding of basic hygiene, sanitation, and health practices.
- Physically fit and able to travel within communities, including rural areas.
- Must be willing to undergo training in community health and caregiving practices.
- Clean background and strong ethical conduct. No criminal record or pending criminal prosecution.
